Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan state. Maharaj Jai Singh found the Jaipur. Due to the dominant colour of its buildings, Jaipur is named as Pink City. It is also famous for its various heritage sites like Amber Fort, Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal and it is also famous for its art & craft market.

Famous Places in Jaipur

1. Amer Fort

Amer Fort is a very famous royal fort situated in Amer Rajasthan. This fort is located 11 kilometres from Jaipur in Amer. This fort is the main tourist spot because of its classy formation with beautiful gardens having “Maota” lake which is the main source of water for Amer fort.

Amer fort having “Diwan I Khaas” & “Diwan-i-Aam” for the private and public meetings. This fort also having a Mirror place named as “Sheesh Mahal” which is beautifully designed by pieces of mirrors. Just alongside the Amer fort, Jaigarh fort is located.

2. Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal Palace – 4 Floors underwater & 1 Floor above water.

Jal Mahal is a giantly wide & touristy water palace in Jaipur because it is situated in the mid of “Man Sagar Lake”. It was made by Raja Jai Singh-2 in Jaipur.

The awe-inspiring architectural design of Jal Mahal provides a glimpse of Rajputana style of architecture built with red stones having five floors of which four floors remain underwater and one floor is above water. The beauteous monument successfully describes the calibre of the ancient architect.

3. Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal famous for its cross-ventilation structural design

Hawa Mahal(‘Hawa’ means Wind in Hindi) as the name suggests has one unique architectural feature that it has a cross-ventilation across the building where there are a lot of doors & windows through which wind passes & it doesn’t have to feel the wind pressure. There is an Archaeological Museum situated in the courtyard of Hawa Mahal.

Hawa Mahal is the epicentre of the historical tourist in Jaipur which is the famous centre of attraction which is constructed by red and pink sandstone.

Hawa Mahal was constructed by Maharaja “Sawai Pratap Singh” in 1799. Architect of Hawa Mahal was designed by Mr Lal Chand Ustad. The facade of the monument recalls the megalith structures of Europe.

Famous Market (Chotti Chopad & Badi Chopad)

This is a famous market for silver and stone jewellery, statue, spices & bangles made by Laakh. Tourists who visit Jaipur must-do shopping from this famous market.

4. Jaipur Club

Jaipur Club – Premium Club needs Special Permissions to get Entry

It is the historical club of Jaipur located in the middle of the city. Only members can go there but with special permission, any person can go and can enjoy the delicious food there. The historical and royal bar is the centre of attraction of this club.

5. Shakambhari Mata Mandir(Temple)

Shakambari temple is one of the 9 temples of Devi.

Shakambhari Mata Mandir is far-famed Shakti Peeth of Ma Nav Durga which is situated in Jaipur. This temple is around 25000 years old.

There is a famous saying about this temple that at the time of dangerous drought in sambhar area Shakambhari Mata helped people to survive by providing them food produced after her devotion and prayers to god.

6. Sambhar Lake

Sambhar Lake – the largest area of salt inland.

Sambhar Lake is the largest salt producing lake which is located in Jaipur. A very old & interesting story about sambhar lake is due to the curse of Shakambhari Mata transformed all the metals & silver planes into salt in this area.
