1. Why Golden Temple is also known as Harmandir Sahib :

There is a story behind the name. Why Golden Temple called Harmandir Sahib too because the entire upper half of temple is covered with copper & the golden plates.

It was founded by the fourth Guru of Sikhs ,Guru Ram Das Ji and compeleted by his success Guru Arjun Devjii .

Golden temple is situated in Amritsar, Punjab. Darbar Sahib is the holiest shrine of Sikhs & next to Akal Takht, a Sikh seat of power. It was made in the late 19th century.

2. Four entrances to get into Harmandir Sahib Golden Temple:

Golden Temple has door on each side east, west ,north ,south but for the darshan of the Guru Sahib, it has only one door which signifies the fact that People of religious are equal.

It means an open-minded personality of the Sikhs towards all different people of religion that they all are the same without any discrimination of caste, creed, colour, gender,etc.

Best time to visit in amritsar is between the november and march in this seoson of winter time the weather is too good.

In entire temple the temple is not too large it is covered with almost 750 kg gold.. .

Yes camera is allowd in outside in gurudwara but its is not alloewd to take photos in front of guru granth sahib for enjoy .

3. The reason behind the Golden Temple Construction:

Guru Arjun Devjii gave the idea of construction of the gurudwara he wanted to give common place for the worship to all different people of religion.

Guru Arjun established this holy Gurudwara with the help of "Hazrat Mian Mir" on December 1588, He belongs to muslim community. Guru ji again taught and spread the message of unity in the world & it is compeleted by Guru Ram Dass Jii in 1577.

In 1604, Guru Arjun Dev Ji the fifth Guru of Sikhism placed the Granth Sahib jii in Golden Temple & firstly Guru Granth Sahib Jii placed on that place only so, it is topmost religious Gurudwara of sikhs .

4. How it named famously as Golden Temple:

In the year 1830, Ranjit Singh jii covered the temple with the gold plates which adds the beauty of the temple which attracts millions of all people about 10,000 people visit every day in temple .

Golden Temple is not only the place of worship but all people find the fredom from disturbance .Reflection of the Golden Temple in sarowar adds the beauty of the temple the night view of the temple is very amazing the freshness & calmness adds to the atmosphere.

5. Why Langar is served at across the World:

The free community kitchen at The Golden Temple feeds thousands of people daily.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the first guru of Sikhism. He always remained in doing the meditation in all-time Guru Nanak Dev Ji started the tradition of Langar in 1481.

His father gave 30 rupees to him for the business but he helped the poor & hungry people feed them food in Pangat(In sitting Queue) from the money which was given by his father for the business and instead he was not left with money to start his business.

He wants to help the poor & hungry person so the tradition of Guru ka Langar was started by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He was kind, caring, helping person so now in all the Gurudwaras, Langar is served in Pangat (In sitting Queue). It is a great place for humanity.

6. Volunteers work for free:

The Golden Temple attracts millions of volunteers every month who take up a temporary task to serve the kitchen for free as a respect for the Gurudwara(SEVA) in the form of cooking, cleaning as well as serving food.

Serving these many people day after day is not an easy task, but the clockwork efficiency of the sevadars makes the task simple.

There are two kitchens in Gurudwara Golden Temple in which food is prepared by the sewadars. They have a Giant Hot Plate (Tawa) which can serve more than 30 chapatis at one time, several burners & Deeper utensils.

Distance from GOLDEN TEMPLE- 3 MINS WALKING but some people say that they found difficult to locate the hotel. Even local people are not aware of this hotel & even google maps are not helpful.

2. Hotel Alpha Inn - 1500

The hotel was good with just walking in distance mere 10 steps some people say rooms of this hotel are with golden temple view.

3. Hotel Mercury Inn - 1200

Distance from GOLDEN TEMPLE -20METRES from gurudwara sahib good view in Harmandir Sahib but the rooms of this hotel are small but nicely done.

4. Hotel Hari Darshan - 897

Distance from GOLDEN TEMPLE -50 METRES from the golden temple & hotel is located in an easily accessible part of the city. Rooms facing the golden temple are more spacious & better.

5. Hotel Sapphire - 2166

Walking distance from GOLDEN TEMPLE -3 minutes close on the backside of Harmandir Sahib opposite to the NRI Yatri Niwas. Comfortable are rooms little but very accommodated with all types of facilities of AC rooms, LCD, Parking ..., etc.
