Ocean was churned in the search of Amrit (a drink of immortality) between Devas and Asuras. The Devas won the quest for Amrit and were taking to put it into a pot or Kumbh, but a few drops fell-off on four different places- Prayagraj, Ujjain, Nasik, and Haridwar. At these places, Kumbh Mela is organized once in every four years.

In Jan 2019, Kumbh Mela has been organized under the monitoring of the Chief Minister of UP Shri Yogi Adityanath himself. He knew very well about the importance of Kumbh Mela so even he increased the Kumbh Mela budget to 4200 crores while the previous budget was only 200 crore.
Even the Prime Minister of India Shri Narender Modi came here once in Kumbh Mela to inspect the preparations. HRD Minister Smriti Irani has visited here to take blessings of spiritual Gurus. Representers of more than 70 countries came to feel the essence of Kumbh Mela.
